Sirius will pick up local radio play-by-play for its new NFL deal.
Sirius will largely rely on local radio accounts of the Sunday games for its new $220 million seven-year deal with the National Football League. The league has the right to re-purpose those broadcasts — but 100% of station content, including spots and promotions, will air on Sirius.
If you’re Sirius this is EXACTLY what the doctor ordered. Establishing new points of difference is precisely what will attract subscribers.
If, however, you’re a terrestrial Radio broadcaster this is yet another warning shot off your bow.
