Seth Godin on loyalty programs:
All real loyalty programs start in the same place: creating an experience or a product that is its own reward. We’re loyal because it makes us feel good, not because we’re being bribed.
Think about this next time you award points for listening. The points should be the icing, not the cake.
This, by the way, is why I hate club names like “Frequent Listener” or “Loyal Listener”. They are presumptuous and have all the benefit to the radio station and zero benefit to the listener.
“Fan club” or some such words says it better, I think.
