Candy for the listener, a lump of coal for Radio

Here’s a textbook example in how to piss off your listeners and cause boatloads of negative publicity: Offer to give away “100 Grand” in a contest – and then award the prize of a candy bar.

You would think that a radio station – free and easy to listen to or not – wouldn’t be so foolish.

Customer evangelism goes both ways. I have no doubt this mistake will be more costly than the original $100,000 “prize.”

And we wonder why listeners tune us out.
