Art imitates Radio Life

Garrison Keillor turns his radio “Prairie Home Companion” into a film, directed by the legendary Robert Altman.

And the story line? Just ask one of the movie’s stars, Meryl Streep:

“This creation is not really like his show,” said Streep. “It is an imagined last show and so it’s in the context of being taken over by a radio conglomerate, which is happening to a lot of radio shows at home.”

The star studded cast also includes Woody Harrelson, Tommy Lee Jones, Kevin Kline, Lily Tomlin, John C. Reilly, Virginia Madsen, and the great Lindsay Lohan.

With Altman’s pedigree, strong early reviews, and a stellar cast, we might be looking at a potential Oscar nominee next year.

The movie, and another round of bad publicity for corporate radio, opens in the U.S. in June.
