Soon, half of all mobile phones will contain FM Radios

"Today, 15 percent of mobile phones sold worldwide have FM Radio and the market is set to continue to grow toward 50 percent."

That’s the projection from Phillips Electronics (thanks to ILoveRadio.org for the tip).

Think about the implications of this.

As ever-present as the old-fashioned Walkman was, it was nowhere near as ubiquitous as today’s mobile phones. To put an FM radio on every mobile phone is to dramatically increase the distribution of FM radio to every nook and cranny of the listener’s lifestyle.

Now let’s hope there’s something on there worth listening to. That’s where all of US come in.
