Casting your morning show becomes an event

I love this idea so much I can’t even begin to tell you…

From Radio Ink:

The syndicated Kidd Kraddick morning show is going the Reality TV route in its search for a new female cast member. Five finalists for the position will live in a Dallas high-rise loft apartment for two weeks in August, competing on-air for the job. Listeners will be able to eavesdrop on the drama on the Internet 24/7, and the winner not only gets the job, they also win the apartment and its contents.

Kidd (a regular reader of this blog) consistently creates some of the best online strategies which work in concert with his on-air ones.

And I think this “Reality TV”-style event is particularly smart.

What could simply be a “let’s hire a cast member” management decision becomes a listener event with mondo involvement from all four corners of the Kraddick-verse. From a word-of-mouth perspective, it don’t get any better than this!
