Tonight I’m watching the premier of Sons & Daughters. Midway through the second half-hour, the local ABC affiliate runs a 30-second promo saying their news is “#1 in all the key demographics!” And just not #1 in all the key demographics…but “#1 at 5 in all the key demographics”…and “#1 at 6 in all the key demographics.” Positioning your product #1 only opens you up to being knocked off. But being #1 in “all the key demographics,” well…now there’s a real reason to watch…especially if you are in the key demographics… If only viewers knew what the key demographics are…
And TV dares to call radio a second-class medium?
