I understand what Andy is trying to get at and it's much more a starting point than solving the puzzle in a day. Talking specifics is important and it's where many lessons are learned and mistakes made that we all can glean value from. Great interview series from Mark and I appreciate Andy wanting more granularity.

Andy, radio is SO far behind on all this that I'm warming up a post most likely for next week on the topic.

Let's go further than saying "social media is all about conversations" which appears akin to saying radio is all about talk and music.

From this uneducated neophyte's view from the back forty, social media seems to be about adding value to relationships by way of conversation - connectedness, intimacy, entertainment, relevant and pertinent information and comments, being a blessing to others in your circles by way of the nature one's contributions, etc..

So the question to our media brethren is this: What specific steps are you taking to do so? Let's contribute to a rising tide and talk about such. I'll start.

For example, in all simplicity and modesty of execution, yes, we're taking comments and questions online re our talk shows launching August. We're also extending the conversations with the hosts and guests post-show and enabling them to refer to podcasts or linked content relevant to the topic, to enrich the value of the experience.
