MOG – A New Online Radio Alternative

MOG All Access.

A new online radio alternative – "too cool to be called radio."

Well, no.  But it is cool.

And it has some great features which dovetail nicely with what radio provides.

Available for free trial and by subscription soon.

Here's the video tour:

MOG goes live on December 2.

Is it just me or would this be an interesting radio partner?

It's still just a POS MP3, whatever happened to high fidelity? If you want to listen to crap go ahead.

Very cool device, and I'm sure it'll have a mobile phone app if it doesn't already.
This is more in competition with online radio & iTunes then it is with traditional radio, because it allows people to customize what they want to hear.
Will people pay for it... yes, because they can customize to their interest, and paying for different services isn't new - itunes, PVR, & satellite radio. I'm curious why they're not giving it away & posting adds on their page, with an occasional 5-10 second commercial?

As a listener, I'm excited about this - always looking to discover new music. Will definitely try this out!
As a radio guy, it just brings home the fact that the industry has failed miserably in keeping up with the desires of its listeners. Haven't listened to local radio in YEARS, and that's not gonna change anytime soon.
  • $5 per month.
Slacker commercial-free is $4 per month. And it doesn't have some of this functionality.
So the issue really comes down to a central one: Do you want a passive good-enough experience with commercials (which is free) or an active tailored-to-you experience without commercials (which is not).
The audience for the former is much smaller than the audience for the latter. And the audience for the latter is well served by this thing called "radio."
This might be a post all by itself one of these days.

Too many confusing "cool" features. the reason google works is becayse ALL you get is a white page with one field for your query. This is an ambitious project, but why should I give them 50. a month when similiar sites offer similiar features for free....slacker?
