Radio is missing a hyper-local opportunity

Smart.

Can you see the application for a "local" medium called radio?

  • I'm excited to hear somebody else bring this concept to the attention of the industry.
The industry has changed. Not because of the industry but because of the evolution in technology and the way the public interacts with media and each other.
If radio is to grow and supersede other mediums, they must pull the trigger on opportunities like the one above. In reality, it's easy to do. It simply takes courage to be a changer in the industry. A station does not need to start from scratch, all they need to do is one small thing to include listeners in the conversation. Do that one thing and do it well.
As the radio industry stumbles on themselves, opportunities like the one above, are being missed. Other mediums are already walking (and running) in that direction... just look at TV and Newspaper sites.
  • Exactly what I hope to do, but the path is difficult for a resource-poor, rural public radio station.
