Sirius launches “Sirius Internet Radio”

SiriusinternetradioStarting now, every device connected to the Internet with audio capability, wired or unwired, is a Sirius radio.

It’s time to stop counting radio sales and start counting dollars.

It’s time to stop calling it “satellite.”

It’s time for the radio trades to stop joining in a communal radio industry hex on satellite and start learning from them.

Eventually, it’s time to stop calling it “radio.”

P.S. It’s only a matter of time until this content is free, FCC-filtered, and ad-supported.

That gives you a “free” service level and a “premium” one with no (or minimal) ads.

Because if Sirius can make more than $13/month per subscriber via advertising, it should.

Until they come up with compelling content, it won’t matter. Right now, other than Howard, there’s no difference between Sirius and my iPod, except my iPod plays what *I* want to hear. Sirius is no better than any other internet radio station, of which there are thousands.
The absolute LAST thing FM stations should do is attempt to copy Sirius. If you care about what’s between the commercials, Sirius should not be given as an example.

Well, suffice it to say I couldn’t disagree with you more, George.
If you care about what’s between the SONGS then Sirius is not a great example.
But if you only care about what’s between the commercials, it suits just fine.
