What’s in a name?

“Adult Hits.”

That’s the name given to the JACK format.

What does it mean?

It means the JACK format.

Why bother with a name that needs to be translated into another name in order to be understood?

Like it or not, JACK is the “Kleenex” of “Adult Hits.” And when was the last time you went to the supermarket looking for “facial tissues”? Probably the same time you went looking for “gelatin dessert” instead of “Jell-o.”

Besides, isn’t Hot AC “Adult Hits”? Isn’t Mainstream AC “Adult Hits”? Come to think of it, what format aimed at adults over 25 (which includes almost all of them nowadays) ISN’T best described as “Adult Hits”?

Why make such a fuss about this?

Just because it’s dumb, that’s why.
