When the Listener is the Programmer

Interesting formulation for a web-centric approach called “You Choose Radio” a.k.a. WYCR.

Key section:

“We are creating a web interface where you select the shows, the features and the music genre you want along with the times of day and build you own station totally personal to you and you alone truly radio you control.”

Now there’s nothing new about choosing a stream of music that’s tailored to your tastes. But what’s interesting about this approach is that it aims to allow the listener to create a customized set of personalized station elements – not just music. And it also has a game aspect – it turns the passive act of listening into an active act of creation. It’s the difference between watching a movie and playing a video game.

Programmers, check your back.
